Phil Ridout- Imperium Management

Phil Ridout of “Imperium Management”
This blog will serve as a series of articles with tips and advice for the actor’s every concern about headshots. In the future I will be discussing a wide variety of topics that will help you get your best headshots yet!
 Do your homework
Find the right headshot photographer for you by deciding what is most important to you. Do you want the photographer to spend lots of time with you? Do you want studio headshots or outdoor headshots? You need to know what you want, look at various headshot photographers in your area to see who will meet your needs
What do I wear?
I will be discussing this in an article later but discuss with the photographer or your agent what you should be wearing- simplicity is key.
How should I pose?
A headshot photographer’s job is to help you pose and guide your expressions but it is helpful to do your homework before and discuss with your agent what kind of looks you should be aiming for.
Ask questions
If you have any concerns during a shoot, discuss them with the photographer. These are your photos and must represent you perfectly!

Develop a relationship with the photographer
The best way to get natural and beautiful headshots is to become relaxed with the photographer. I always start with having a tea together so we get to know each other and can build a relaxed working relationship. The more relaxed you are, the more warmth you will exude in your headshots.

Develop a vision together
What do you want out of your headshots? What style do you want them done in? Discuss this at the beginning with your photographer.
